FROM: <br />DATB: <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Facilities Design Committee <br />Ron Moorse, City Administrator <br />January 17, 1992 <br />SUBJECT: Minutes of the Facilities Design Committee Meeting of <br />Tuesday, January 14, 1992 <br />1. The Committee discussed the budget and cost estimates. <br />A. The updated budget and cost estimates are attached to the <br />minutes. <br />B. The project is currently within budget, however there are <br />a number of alternate items that are beyond the budget <br />amount. These are items the city could add if the remainder <br />of the project comes in under budget. The list of alternate <br />items is attached. <br />An explanation of several of the alternate items is as follows: <br />1. The base building, which currently matches the budget, <br />includes the following: <br />a. Saxon brick (larger size) versus modular brick <br />b. Brick for t.ie accent stripe versus a stone band <br />c. Forced air heating versus hot water heat <br />d. A minimum second floor structure for both the <br />administrative and police buildings <br />Also attached to the alternate is a price summary sheet for <br />furniture and equipment for the administrative and police <br />buildings, furniture for the council chambers and audio/visual <br />equipment for the council chambers. One item that needs to be <br />added to the furniture and equipment list is computers. One item <br />that needs to be added to the alternate items is an emergency <br />generator. <br />Several Issues were discussed concerning the alternate items: <br />1. Second floor expansion. The Americans with Disabilities <br />Act (ADA) regulations require an elevator for second floor <br />storage (see the attached memo). This requirement did not <br />exist when the initial plans were made for the building. The <br />city will need to determine the most cost effective way to <br />provide for storage space and future expansion in view of the <br />ADA regulations.
