Please state your reasons for wanting to serve on this Conmission <br />(Please be as specific as possible. Ose additional sheet if <br />necessary.) <br />Having lived in Minneapolis and Edina, we realized we wanted to live in a com- <br />munitv such as Orono and in 1987 we purchased a home across from Wolsfeld Woods. <br />The natural beauty, the people and the envirpment have exceeded our expectations. <br />I would like to help preserve what Orono has to offer. It is apparent that Orono <br />is and will continue to be attractive to developers. 1 believe Orono can take a <br />strong stand to protect its uniqueness through proper planning. I have knowleoge <br />and experience in land use and land planning and great concern tor the community. <br />ffbat is your view of the role of the Commission? <br />My view of the Planning Commission role is to advise and assist the City Council <br />in establishing the policies necessary to protect Orono while allowing inevitable <br />growth. With completion of I-39d and the future expansion of Highway 12 1 have <br />seen a tremendous increaseof interest, on the part of oeople looking to move to <br />Orono. I feel this will be also one of the reasons that more land owners will <br />attempt to develop vacant land. <br />Other Comments: (Ose this space to include any further <br />information you would like the City Council to consider, or that <br />you feel is relevant to the appointment you are seeking.
