LOUIS PARK, MINNESOTA 55416 <br />(6iz; S46-«300 <br />January 6, 1987 <br />Mr. Mark Bernhardson <br />City Manager <br />City of Orono <br />Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay# MN 55323 <br />Dear Mr. Bernhardson: <br />Thank you for the courtesy of allowing me to make this <br />application in a somewhat untimely fashion. <br />Very briefly, I am a graduate of Harvard College (with honors) <br />1953, majoring in American History and Literature; of the <br />graduate school of Columbia UniveLsity (M.B.A.), 1955, majoring <br />in finance and accounting; and lastly a graduate of the Law <br />School of the University of Minnesota (J.D.) 1959. <br />I have been a practicing attorney in the State of Minnesota since <br />1959, presently officing at the above address and previously <br />maintaining addresses in earlier years at 1300 Shelard Tower, St. <br />Louis Park, MN and 954 Midland Bank Building, Minneapolis, MN. <br />As a practicing attorney, I have appeared on many occasions <br />before various planning commissions of many municipalities in the <br />Metropolitan area. I do not specialize in this, but in the <br />course of representing corporations, there have been appearances <br />especially with regard to the activities cf restaurants and <br />specialized commercial stores. <br />For two years, while President of Oak Ridge Country Club (and on <br />other occasions) , I represented that organization before the <br />Minnetonka a^d Hopkins Planning Commissions while property we had <br />sold was rezoned, a developer was building adjacent to the Club, <br />and the Club itself was attempting to fence its entire boundary. <br />While not major appearances, I have nevertheless acquired a <br />working knowledge of Planning Commissions, City Councils and <br />their interrelationships and workings, all of which would be of <br />assistance to me if appointed. <br />For many years I was a resident of the City of Golden Valley and <br />participated in community affairs, and further was a member of <br />the Golden Valley School Board for approximately 5 years until
