i:* ~*.HI iO.'*a..1 k * « .9 • •.N orth Metro Mayors A ssociation <br />NORTH METRO MAYORS ASSOCIATION <br />METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY STABILITY ACT RESOLUTTON <br />WHEREAS, the North Metro Mayors Association (NMiVlA) is an organization <br />comprised of the following 18 North Metro communities: <br />Anoka <br />Blaine <br />Brooklyn Park <br />Brooklyn Center <br />Dayton <br />Giamplin <br />Circle Pines <br />Q)lumbia Heiglits <br />Coon Rapids <br />Crystal <br />Fridley <br />Ham Lake <br />Minneapolis <br />New Brighton <br />New Hope <br />Robbinsdale <br />Ramsey <br />Spring Lake Park <br />WHEREAS, NMMA was formed in 1985 for the purpose of working to meet the <br />economic development and transportation needs of the North Metro area, and <br />WI-IEREAS, the Association's activities were expanded, during the ensuing years, <br />to include housing, human service, fiscal disparities, Ioc5 government aid, <br />metropolitan coimcil policies, and <br />WHEREAS, the 1980 census data strongly indicated and the 1990 census data <br />confirmed that the North Metro area lias and will continue to have an increasing <br />number of residents with needs for affordable housing, related human services, and <br />the necessary resources to address these issues, and <br />WHEREAS, the allocation of public resources over the past decade with respect to <br />such issues as highways, roads and bridges, sewer extensions, economic <br />development incentives, have not been proportionately made available to the North <br />Metro area, and <br />WHEREAS, the studies completed by Representative Myron Ofield over the past <br />year have clearly stated the need to addr^ the needs and concents of the North <br />Metro communities, and
