We thank you again for your support of $1,000 <br />from last year’s CDBG funds - you are an important reason <br />for tiie successes WeCAN achieved in 1992! <br />WeCAN is a community-based, nonprofit organization, <br />dedicated to helping people achieve greater self-sufficiency <br />by providing a wide variety of services to low-income <br />residents in southwestern Hennepin County. <br />WeCAN served 1,071 households in 1992. This includes 43 <br />households in Orono, six of which utilized our Emergency <br />Assistance Program and received $820 in rent and utility <br />aid; six households received 704 nutritious home-delivered <br />dinners in our Meals-On-Wheels program, 12 households <br />participated in our Food and Nutrition Program; one <br />household received budget counseling through our Financial <br />Counseling Program, two households received 14 hours of <br />family and individual counseling at the WeCAN office, and 16 <br />hou«»eholds received public assistance application services. <br />In addition we have been assessing community needs by <br />reviewing 1990 vs. 1980 census data as part of our work on a <br />community plan for affordable housing.
