9503.0034 AIDES, VOIONTEERS, SL'BST:“'JT£S. <br />i <br />Subpart 1. Aide qualifications. In tr.is part, "aide- <br />means a staff person who carries out child care program <br />activities under the supervision of a teacher or assistant <br />teacher. An aide who is under 18 years old must be directly <br />supervised by a teacher or assistant teacher at ail times'except <br />when the aide is assisting with the supervision of sleeping <br />children or assisting children with washing, toileting, and <br />diapering. An aide must be at least 16 years old. <br />A person employed as an aide or child care assistant on the <br />effective date of parts 9503.0005 to 9503.0170 who met the <br />qualifirations in part 9545.0600, subpart 1, item E, is <br />considered to meet the qualifications of an aide, but must meet <br />the qualifications in this part within one year of the effective <br />date of parts 9503.0005 to 9503.0170. <br />Any new employee hired as an aide during the first year <br />after the effective date of r'^ts 9503.0005 to 9503.0170 must <br />meet the qualifications in th.s part or the license holder.must <br />document that the person will meet the qualifications within one <br />year of the effective data of parts 9503.0005 to 9503.0170. <br />Subp. 2. Volunteers used as staff. A volunteer who is <br />included ir. the staff to child ratio must meet the requirements <br />for the assigned staff position as specified in parts 9503.0030 <br />to 9503.0034. <br />Subp. 3. Substitute staff. A person designated as a <br />substitute must meet the qualifications for the assigned staff <br />position as specified in parts 9503.0030 to 9503.0034, except <br />that the license bolder say use substitutes who do ne : nest the <br />qualifications for teacher in part 9503.0032, item E, or <br />assistant teacher in part 9503.0033, item C, only if: <br />A. the amount of unqualified substitute hours per <br />center per calendar year does not exceed 40 hours multiplied by <br />the number of the center's full-time teacher and assistant <br />teacher positions} <br />I. unqualified substitutes are not used as teachers or <br />assistant teachers for more than ton consecutive working days <br />for the same group of children per calendar year: and <br />C. thore is always a person qualified as a teacher <br />present within the center except as qualified in part 9503.0040, <br />subpart 2, item ■. <br />KS a 245A.02 subd 10} 245A.09 subd 1} 252.20 subd 2 <br />13 SA 173 <br />■OTBi See part 9503.0175 for effective date of this part.. <br />9503.6035 ORZEMTATXOM, PIBST AXO, AMD XN SEMVZCE TRAXNXNC. <br />Subpart 1. Orient«cios training. The license holder oust <br />ensure that every staff parson, and volunteers who will have <br />direct contact with or access to children and are not under the <br />direct supervision of a staff person, are given orientation <br />training and successfully completes the training before starting <br />assigned duties. Completion of the orientation must be <br />documented in the individual's personnel record. The <br />orientation training must include information about: <br />A. the center's philoscrhy, child care program, and <br />procedures for maintaining health and safety, and handling <br />emergencies and accidents}
