ORDINANCE NO.�,THIRD SERIES <br /> CITY OF ORONO <br /> HENNEPIN COUNTY,MINNESOTA <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES <br /> PERTAINING TO RECREATIONAL FIRES <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO ORDAINS: <br /> SECTION 1. Section 58-156 shall be amended by deleting text to read as follows: <br /> Open burning means the burning of any matter if the resultant combustion products are emitted <br /> directly to the atmosphere without passing through a stack, duct or chimney. Open burning includes <br /> ,s�re��brush disposal fires of anv size, , fires for fire <br /> department training purposes, and�res for maintenance of native prairie areas. <br /> SECTION 2. Section 58-156 shall be amended by deleting text to read as follows: <br /> Sec.58-188.-Permit process for open burning. <br /> (a)Upon receipt of the completed open burning permit application and permit fee, a city staff person <br /> shall determine that the requirements for open burning under this article are satisfied. Thereafter, a <br /> permit may be issued. <br /> � • <br /> �f� , , <br /> €�es Onen Burning inspection requirements include an inspection of the initial burn site by city staff <br /> before a permit is issued.Reinspection of the site is required before conducting any additional bums <br /> within the permit time limits. <br /> ��}Notification requirements include notifying the police department for any open burn�g-• <br /> . For small and large brush disposal fires, fire department training fires,and native <br /> prairie restoration fires, in addition to notifying the police department, the fire department having <br /> jurisdiction must also be notified. <br /> SECTION 3. Section 58-190 shall be amended by adding text to read as follows: <br /> Sec. 58-190.-Purposes allowed. <br /> Open burn permits may be issued only for the following purposes: <br /> (1) Elimination of fire or health hazard that cannot be abated by other practical means. <br /> (2) Ground thawing for utility repair and construction. <br /> (3)Disposal of vegetative matter for managing forest,prairie or wildlife habitat,and in the <br /> development and maintenance of land and rights-of-way where chipping, composting, <br /> landspreading or other alternative methods are not practical. <br /> (4) Disposal of diseased trees generated on the site, diseased or infected nursery stock, diseased <br /> beehives. <br /> �5) , ' , <br /> � <br />
