<br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 164, THIRD SERIES <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />THE ORONO MUNICIPAL CODE SEC. 2 – 38 <br />SALARIES OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />REGARDING REIMBURSEMENT FOR iPAD OR COMPUTER RELATED EQUIPMENT <br /> <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO ORDAINS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 2-38 amended title Salaries and Reimbursement of Mayor and Council <br />Members. (3) - Reimbursement for iPad or Computer Related Equipment to the City of Orono <br />Municipal Code is hereby added as follows: <br /> <br />(3) - Reimbursement for iPad or Computer Related Equipment: The authority of this ordinance is <br />pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 412.241. The purpose is to provide a maximum reimbursement of $500.00 <br />for an iPad or other computer purchase for use in their official capacity and forego their ability to receive <br />a hard copy of meeting agenda information. This reimbursement will be done once per member per four- <br />year term. <br /> <br />The computer purchases, reimbursed with receipt for proof of purchase, under this Ordinance are the <br />personal property of the mayor and council members. Individual council members may refuse this <br />benefit. Only those council members in office on January 1, 2016 and thereafter will be eligible for this <br />iPad or computer reimbursement. <br /> <br />Notwithstanding the preceding provision, a mayor-elect and council member-elect who will take office <br />effective January 1 of any year may be reimbursed after January 1 of any year, for their iPad or computer <br />equipment purchased prior to the effective date of the commencement of their term in office. Also, any <br />mayor or council member in office at the time of the effective date of this ordinance may receive said <br />reimbursement within one (1) month of the effective date. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and <br />publication. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 22nd day of February, 2016 on a vote of 4 ayes and 0 nays by the City Council of Orono, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />Diane Tiegs, City Clerk <br /> <br />Ordinance published in The Laker Pioneer Newspapers the week of February 29, 2016
