Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 151, THIRD SERIES <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORONO MUNICIPAL CODE <br />BY AMENDING SECTION 86-70 <br />REGARDING EXPIRATION OF BUILDING PERMITS <br /> <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO ORDAINS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 86-70 of the City of Orono Municipal Code is hereby amended <br />by adding and deleting text within Sections 86-70(a, b, and c) follows: <br /> “Sec. 86-70. Permit Expiration. <br />(a) Any building permit issued by the city abandoned, withdrawn, or expired shall be <br />null and void and shall require issuance of a new permit and payment of applicable <br />fees prior to completion of the work. <br />(b) Notwithstanding continuing or ongoing work nor issuance of new or extended <br />permits, all exterior work authorized by a building permit issued in accordance with <br />the State Building Code shall be completed within twelve (12) months following <br />issuance of the building permit. In addition, no land shall remain disturbed and <br />exposed without established grass or other ground cover according to the approved <br />grading and landscaping plans for the same 12 month period. <br />(c) Failure to complete such exterior construction shall result in the expiration of the <br />existing permit. <br />This does not release the permittee from making appropriate life safety corrections nor <br />negate other building code requirements.” <br /> <br />SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon <br />its passage and publication. <br />ADOPTED this 27th day of July, 2015 on a vote of 5 ayes and 0 nays by the City <br />Council of Orono, Minnesota. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />Diane Tiegs, City Clerk <br />
