Gerhardson, Public Works Director <br />February 16, 1993 <br />% <br />/% <br />SUBJECT: Public Hearing Date Community Development BlocTf^j^^^nt <br />Program Year XIX <br />Each year the City receives monies from HUD through the <br />Community Development Block Grant. The program is administered <br />through Hennepin County Development and Planning. In order to <br />acquire the funds we must conduct a Public Hearing to receive <br />citizen input. <br />As a result of the most recent census the amount Orono <br />receives is less this year than last year. Last year we received <br />approximately $25,700. This year we will receive approximately <br />$20,867. The decrease is due to a lower number of low to moderate <br />income families according to the 1990 census. <br />The Public Hearing notice should include a tentative list of <br />eligible projects. <br />Projects for consideration may be; <br />1. Housing rehabilitation <br />2. Public service organizations WECAN, Westonka Intervention <br />and Interfaith Outreach Community Partners <br />3 . Park Planning <br />4. Stubbs Bay Sewer Connection Grant <br />I have attached a list of 1992 projects and a list of other <br />projects from previous years. <br />I would recommend the Public Hearing be conducted at 7:30 p.m. <br />on March 22, 1993 .
