A use or <br />structure subordinate to in serving in the principal use or <br />structure on the same lot and customarily incidental thereto. <br />Section 10.23, Subdivision 5 (B) - Accessory uses, <br />classified as accessory uses/structures. <br />Signs are <br />Section 10.61, Subdivision 2 (C) - Allowed setbacks/height. <br />a. Review Exhibit E. The sign is shown at approximately 9' <br />in height. Applicant has advised that sign will be <br />altered to meet maximum allowed height. <br />b.Sign must be located 5' in from street lot line and 5' <br />from side property line. <br />List of Exhibits <br />A 1-2 <br />B <br />C <br />D <br />E <br />Application <br />Property Owners List <br />Plat Map <br />Survey <br />Elevation/Sign Plan <br />Description of Req[uest <br />The Art Center has filed a variance application that would <br />allow a directional sign to be located at 2040 North Shore Drive, <br />a residential lot located at the intersection of 15 and 51. <br />Earlier in '92, the Art Center was advised that placement of such <br />signs were not permitted by code as all signs are considered <br />accessory in support or connected with the principal use on the <br />subject property. The Art Center advised that students and <br />visitors were missing turns and finding themselves all the way into <br />Navarre before realizing they had missed the turn at 51 <br />intersection. In discussing the dilemma with City staff, the <br />applicant was first advised to contact the Hennepin County Highway <br />Department to determine a safe location for signage at the <br />intersection of the County Road. Ralph Martinson, the <br />representative of the Art Center has met with Dave Zetterstrohm of <br />the Hennepin County Highway Department and together developed the <br />site plan for the placement of the sign at the intersection, refer <br />to Exhibit D. <br />A
