Map symbols and colors are <br />provided to facilitate locating the soil types on the detailed soil map <br />provided with this report. <br />Borrow pits: <br />The map symbol for this area is Bp. Tliere is not any map color designated. <br />Tliis is a miscellaneous land type that consists of excavations into hill <br />sides or knolls for the purpose of removing soil. <br />Cordova silty clay loam: <br />The map symbol for this soil is Co and the map color is light blue. This <br />is a deep, poorly drained soil that formed in loam glacial till. TJiere are <br />stones and boulders, mainly near the surface. The native vegetation was <br />mixed hardwood forest. The soil is nearly level occupying areas on flats <br />and in shallow drainageways. There is a seasonal watertable at a 1 to 3 <br />foot depth during wet periods of the year. Soil strength is adequate for <br />residential development. The soil is sticky and difficult to work when wet. <br />'Fhere is a high potential for frost action. The soil is moderately to slowly <br />permeable. Shrink-swell (volume change) is moderate to high with changes <br />in moisture content. <br />Dundas silt loam: <br />The map symbol for this soil is Du and the map color is light blue. This is <br />a deep, poorly drained soil. The soil formed in calcareous loamy till. Tliere <br />are stones and boulders in this soil mainly near the surface. The native veg <br />etation was mixed hardwood forest and a grass understory. This is a nearly <br />level soil occupying areas on flats and in shallow drainageways. 'Fhe level <br />slope requires little grading. There is a seasonal watertable at a 1 to 3 foot <br />depth for extended periods. Soil strength is adequate for residential develop <br />ment. The soil is sticky and difficult to work when wet. There is a high <br />potential for frost action. Shrink-swell (volume change) is moderate witn <br />changes in moisture content. The soil is moderately to slowly penneable. <br />Erin loam: <br />Tliis is a deep, well-draimed, moderately fine textured soil that fonned in <br />calcareous shaly till. ITie shaly till is underlain by friable, calcareous, <br />loamy till at a depth of 3 to 20 feet. The soil occurs on smooth, irregularly <br />shaped hills. Tliere are stones and boulders in and on this soil. The native <br />vegetation nas mixed hardwood forest. There are several slope phases of this <br />soil mapped in Hennepin County.
