Gerhardson, Public Works Director <br />November 22, 1993 <br />SQBJICTi Cost Update Underground Tank Removal <br />On September IJ, 1993 staff recommended and Council approved <br />contracting with Braun Intertec to coordinate the underground fuel <br />tank removal at the Old City offices and Public Works site in the <br />Crystal Bay area. <br />Braun Intertec's fee for this activity was $1,950. if there <br />were not any contaminated soils. <br />Once the consultant was approved that consultant received bids <br />for the disposal of the underground tanks. Griffin Service Station <br />Equipment was the lowest bidder at $18,000. <br />Because these were contaminated soils additional samples were <br />taken and analyzed. This additional work increased the consultant <br />and laboratory costa to $3,506.00 an increase of $1,556.00 <br />The consultant fees for further testing (soil borings) report <br />preparation and submittal is estimated at $7,195.00 <br />The break do%m of that amount is as follows: <br />Field Technician <br />Project Manager <br />Word Processor <br />Land Drafting <br />Supervisor <br />lOhrs •55.00 *550. <br />32.5hrs 9 68.00 2210. <br />3hrs 9 43.00 129. <br />4hrs 9 55.00 220. <br />6hrs 9 85.00 510. <br />3619 <br />Drilling Services 6 borings 9 456.67 2740. <br />Laboratory Services 830. <br />7195 <br />The soil testing being done today should determine the amount <br />of area and depth of the contaminated soils. <br />The consultant will also be receiving bids for clean up of the <br />contaminated soils already encountered, some of which is stock <br />pi)ed on the Public Works site as per PCA direction and approval. <br />The methods for clean up of the contaminated soils is land <br />spreading and aerating or transporting to a bituminous plant to <br />"burn” off the contaminates.
