PUBLIC HEARING ON FLAG LOT ISSUTS <br />August 18, 1993 <br />lots Schrocder thought one of the major issues was the change in measurement of lakeshore <br />lots and the ramifications of measuring from the front and back lot line. <br />Rowlette asked what the ramifications are of not changing the current measurements in <br />the Shoreland Regulations. Gaffron explained that anyone who wants to do a flag lot on the <br />lakeshore and meets the area requirements, doesn’t have to meet the width at the street setback <br />and does not need a variance. Rowlette stated that if an ordinance were written with strict <br />enough standards, there would be no need to remm to standards prior to the Shoreland <br />Regulations. Gaffron agreed. Rowlette stated an ordinance would need to be wnnen that is <br />strict enough to meet all concerns or return to previous standards and she thinks the Planning <br />Commission should try to do this. <br />Schroeder would prefer recommending to the Council that they go back to the previous <br />way of calculating lot width and then work over the next 90 days to draft a new ordmance. <br />Rowlette felt the moratorium was already doing that. Nolan stated that if at the end of 90 days <br />the Planning Commission has not resolved the issue, then 'he recommendation could be given <br />to Council to return to previous calculations. Rowlette thought it wouldn’t make any difference <br />which way the Planning Commission acted. Gaffron felt the Council should be informed of the <br />progress of the Planni.ng Commission and will write a memo to Council. <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:47 p.m.
