A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF GRANT APPLICATIONS TO THE <br />STATE BOARD OF GOVERNMENT INNOVATION AND COOPERATION <br />TO HELP FUND COOPERATIVE SERVICE STUDIES <br />WHEREIAS# the City of Orono is a party to an agreement <br />between the Metropolitan Council and the Cities of Chanhassen, <br />Deeohaven, Excelsior, Minnetonka, Minnetonka Beach, Minnetrista, <br />Mound, Shorewood, Spring Park, Tonka Bay, Victoria Wayzata and <br />Woodland (here-in-a£ter referred to as "the cities ) to <br />opportunities for improving cooperation between the cities relative <br />to the provision of public services; and <br />WHEREIAS, the cities have identified the potential for <br />improved cooperation in a number of service delivery areas and have <br />selected for initial concentration the areas of recreation <br />services, public safety services and personnel management services; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the cities have identified the need for <br />additional planning activities before the potential for improved <br />cooperation can be realized in the areas of recreation and public <br />safety; and <br />WHEREAS, the cities have identified start up costs that <br />must be paid prior to the implementation of a cooperative personnel <br />management system; and <br />WHEREAS, the State Board of Government Innovation and <br />Cooperation is now accepting applications for competitive grant <br />applications for Cooperation Planning Grants and Service Sharing <br />Grants; and <br />WHEREAS, the aforementioned planning and implementation <br />needs of the cities are deemed to be projects which are eligib e <br />for funding by the State Board's grant programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the initial application deadline for the <br />aforementioned grant programs, combined with the ^® <br />to finalize the cities' grant applications, preclude the ^ <br />Council from adopting a resolution in support of the specific grant <br />applications.
