tradition of "proportion" with the Noerenberg site.This concept <br />of spatial relationships can be seen in the proposed plan for the <br />garden in the transition from the visitor center to the formal <br />floral display area^ to the manicured estate grounds• to the more <br />natural edges of the estate.The plan includes several elements of <br />architecture as focal points on the estate including the visitor <br />center and memorial arbor, the lakeside gazebo and the grape <br />arbor.Additional architectural features are anticipated including <br />a pool,fountains, benches and observation platforms. <br />B.CONCEPT PLAN FOR N0ERENBER6 MEMORIAL COUNTY PARK - "A TRADITIONAL <br />ESTATE GARDEN" <br />1.Design Considerations and Site Analysis <br />In looking at the vegetation and topography of the Noerenberg site <br />with the intent to develop an estate garden, special consideration <br />was given to the following features or characteristics of the land: <br />a.Open, Sunny Areas:Up to five large areas of this type are <br />evident on the site.Their specific features range from good <br />to poor soil, flat to sloping terrain, major relationship to <br />the lake as opposed to that of the road,existing gardens to <br />natural area.Suggested uses,depending on particular area, <br />could include gardens, lawns, parking or water features. <br />Low, Wet Areas: The land characterized by this feature is <br />close to the road and is occasionally flooded.Suggested use <br />is extensive planting of low maintenance plant materials and <br />for a possible natural water feature, <br />c.Open Understory with Mature Canopy While much of the <br />vegetation of this type is close to the lake, some of it does
