UPON MOTION BY Martha Van de Ven, seconded by Jim Franklin, the <br />Board of Education adopted the Five Year Capital Expenditure plan <br />as follows; FIVE YEAR CAPITAL EXPENDITURE PLAN ON FILE IN DISTRICT <br />OFFICE <br />In the presentation of the 1993-94 District Goal, Dr. Mich stated <br />that the District faces financial as well as facilities issues <br />during the coming year(s) . He suggested that in addition to the <br />completion of the action plans stemming from the long-range <br />planning committees of the 1992-93 school year, that the 1993-94 <br />school year become a year in which a planning process would be <br />developed for 1994-95. Dr. Mich stated that this would be brought <br />back to the Board for further discussion at the <br />September 13 meeting. <br />Dr. Mich presented the revised Mission Statement/Instructional <br />Goals and requested that the Board members review these two <br />documents and provide him with any suggestion/changes. He stated <br />that this will be brought back for Board approval within the next <br />month. Mr. McKown expressed appreciation to Dr. Mich, Peg Swanson <br />and Martha Van dc Ven for their work in the development of these <br />two documents. <br />Melanie DeLuca provided the Board with a summary of the 1993 summer <br />school program and summer activities that are handled by the <br />Community Education department. She highlighted some of the new <br />additions to the summer school program and shared a videotape with <br />the Board of a theatrical production that was put on by 67 young <br />people from the community. <br />Ms. DeLuca informed the Board that an auction will be held on <br />August 26 at which time the District will sell surplus equipment <br />and residents may make donations. She stated that all money raised <br />will be used to purchase a new refrigerator for the Student Center. <br />The Board expressed appreciation to Ms. DeLuca and her staff for <br />the excellent programs that are provided through Community <br />Education. <br />UPON MOTION by Jim Franklin, seconded by Martha Van de Ven, <br />the meeting was adjourned.
