I
TO:
FROM:
DATE:
Ron Moorse City Administrator
John Gerhardson, Public Works Director
September 10, 1993
SUBJECT: Stubbs Bay Sewer - Contractor Perfonnance Complaint
10
%
During the Public Comments section of the August 23, 1993 Council meeting. Mr. Hcnr>'
Furcluier, 360 Leaf Street, complained of unsatisfactory restoration to his property by PCI. the
Stubbs Bay Sewer Project contractor.
Tlie contractor had entered the property to the .south of I-urchners to grade the lawn over
the sewer main. The contractor encountered a wet area and used I-urchners driveway to get to
the other side of the wet area. (Photographs will be available at the meeting.)
For the use of Furchner's driveway, the contractor did some grading on his property,
added crushed rock and graded his driveway.
The contractor and Furchner agreed on what was to be done and Furchner w,.s observing
the activities at all times.
When the contractor left, he stated that someone would rctuin later to add additional
topsoil and complete the restoration. Mr. Furchner thought that they would return that same
day.
I have talked with the project '•••pervisor, the project foreman and the equipment operator
from PCI and they are very' apologetic for any misunderstandings, and will do whatever is
:iecessar>' to correct any problems.
I have notified the contractor that they are not to enter Furchner ’s property without
permission from a representative of the City or the City ’s engineer.
