Over the .ears silt from highway 51 washed
t rough North Star Marina property and into the harbor area. This was
ntially eliminated a few years ago when at our request Hennepin
y Installed a curbing along 51 at our access road. The other
source of silt entering the harbor area is from wash of silt, sand and
Sravel over an unprotected shoreline from our parking area which we are
- ^ - -- - -Ul c
not permitted to hard surface. This accunxilation of silt near the shore
and the low water level have combined to make access to 25 of our close
- vur ^lu
to Shore slips, as well as our pier almost impossible. (See attached
slip location chart. Slips S4 through S14 and odd.numbered slips B1
through B27.) This situation has worsened each year u,.t.l is doubtful
that abnormal water level would solve’the problem^- The resulting hardship
IS obvious.
our proposal will substantially restore the bottom and the shoreline
to its original contour and configuration and will stabilize both. This
IS basically a maintenance procedure and does not violate the intent of
Ordinance 190.
Attached is a copy of minutes from the Orono Council meeting held
September 23. 1975 which outlines conditions of application approval
for the rip rap. Our current plan calls for strict adherence to items
1 through S as rgfnmmon/iow
■'N
¥
‘■Tr(.
V-
O '- ^ ■ m
W 1
NORTh
MarchI
Ordinc
deal wi
ti
