Minnesota Statutes 1992, section 134.001, ir. <br />amended by addinq a subdivision to read: <br />Subd. a. [RECIOMAL PUBLIC L1BRAB7 DISTRICT.) "Regional <br />public library district" mean.s a governmental unit formed <br />according to this chapter to operate multicounty public library <br />aervices» <br />Sec. 3. {134.201) (REGIOHAL LinPARY DISTRICT.) <br />Subdivision I. t r-gTam.iSHMEMT. 1 Regional public library <br />districts may be established under this section in the areas_oJ, <br />the existing Great River Regional library system and the Eas^ <br />17 Central Regional library system. The geographic boundaries, <br />IB shall be those established by the state board of education under <br />19 section 134.34, subdivision 3. <br />20 Subd. 2. (FORMATION.) A regional public library district <br />21 may be formed by: <br />22 (11* approval of a majority of the city councils and boards <br />23 of county comisi.ssioncrs of the cities and counties that_£inance <br />24 regional public library system services and represent a majority <br />25 of the population to be served; or <br />26 (?) a majority of those voting on the issue in the entire <br />27 area to be served by the district in a referendum called after <br />28 petitions for the referendum have been filed in each of the <br />29 local qovernn’ental units.
