TO:Mayor Grabek <br />Orono Council Members <br />City Administrator Bernhardson <br />FROM: <br />DATE: <br />Jeanne A, Mabusth/ Zoning Administrator <br />May 8, 1987 <br />SUBJ:#1151 Ann Fisher, 774 Tonkawa Road - <br />Renewal Variance - Request to waive formal review by <br />the Planning Commission <br />Se^ction 10.08 Subdivision 2(A) - <br />The Council by unanimous action may waive reference to the <br />Board of Appeals and Adjustments". <br />Mrs. Fisher was granted a variance to a side setback and the <br />lakeshore setback line on the 22nd of July 1985. The <br />original application involved an addition to the lakeshore of the <br />house of 8 feet with a deck and screened porch attachment (see <br />Exhibit A). The applicant has amended her building plans so that <br />the current proposal only involves the 8 feet principal structure <br />addition and grade level deck (Exhibit B). She did not realize <br />that variances would still be required and engaged a builder to <br />start construction on June 1st. <br />The fact that this application is a renewal variance in addition <br />to reducing the scope of the improvement plan, the resident asks <br />your consideration by waiving the required public hearing <br />requirement before the Planning Commission. <br />Staff would recommend scheduling the application as an <br />information item at the Planning Commission meeting of Kay 18th <br />the customary review packet for a recommenaation from <br />the Planning Commission. The required public hearing for the <br />renewal variance would be scheduled before the Council at their <br />meeting of May 26, 1987. <br />If Council deems it inappropriate to alter the established <br />procedure, the applicant will be advised that a public hearing <br />Ye \ rwS, before the Planning Commission at their June15, 1987 meeting. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by _, seconded by _, to approve the <br />request of Ann Fisher to waive reference to the Planning <br />Commission per Section 10.08 Subdivision 3(A) for the formal <br />review of her amended renewal variance application and to direct <br />schedule a public hearing before the Council on May 26, <br />1987 at 7:00 P.M.
