The living space in question is located above the garage, which is attached to the
principal dwelling by * brtvzeway. This living space has been in use for many years as a guest
or caretaker apartment. There is no record of a conditional use permit being issued for non
rental ^>aitment. The applicant has been issued a permit to remodel this apartment area. If
kitchen use is to be continued, a conditional use permit is required.
The septic system has been inspected to assure that the system both meets the
requirements of the DNR Shoreland Regulations as well as assure that it is of adequate size to
serve the principal residence as well as the guest apartment. The system was inspected on
March 17, 1993 at which time the system was determined to be conforming, but substandard as
the size and construction of the septic tanks is unknown. The drainfield is, however, of
adequate size for a five-bedroom home, and therefore requires no additions at this time.
Issues for Consideration
1. The guest apartment is located above the garage and the only access to the
apartment is via an exterior door.
