^ »
I’.*.'
;..v-
■4
IW'k
/
To:Mayor Callahan and Orono Councilmembers
Ron Moorse. City Administrator COUNCILllEnillQ
may 10 1993
From:
Date:
Subject:
Michael P. Gaffron. Assistant Planning & Zoning Administrator^ ___aiYOFOBOW
May 5, 1993
Forest Arms Siltation Matter
Attached arc two additional items of information for this file. The first is a copy of the
soundings that were done by the Association this spring, through the ice. They clearly indicate
that the silt is a<yt»wiulating in a U-shape area in the lake bottom just out from the storm sewer.
This is information that would be needed by the DNR if a permit application was made.
Also included is a copy of the dock layout approved a few days ago by the LMCD. This
layout thc sidc sctbacks, and results in one rather than two slips being affected by the
siltation. Slip #14 likely will become marginally useable or unusable towards the end of the
mmmgf if the lake level drops per its normal cycle. This dock configutatioi: does not eliminate
the depth problem caused by
Staff met with Mr. Lange, Mr. Norman, and Mrs. Kalweit on Ntoy 5th a^ discuss^ tbe
various issues involved with solving the siltation problem. The Association will be meeting in
the next few weeks and likely will request to meet with Council in late May or early June.
If there is additional information Council would like in tne interim, please let me know,
