Hollander’s request the Council <br />3i'ricT*a"arthe June 13, 1988 eeeting that the staff bring bach <br />to Council draft language regarding an aeendaent to the City’s <br />fence ordinance. <br />Discussion - Given the difficulty of deeigning a fence ordinance <br />to. occasions* and the uniqueness of each situation, <br />particularly in Orono as it relates to fences, the draft language <br />attenpts to address the issue of allowing certain open style <br />fences to have e greater height than thoae that do not seat that <br />openneae standard. The proposal regulates the post height, <br />spac.ng, rail height, fence *opaquenese* (degree of light <br />blockage) and site of rails and poets. <br />In addition, wording and punctuation within the *non- <br />encroacheenta* section of the cod* is slightly revised for the <br />take of clarity and ease of Interpretation. Ho changes in <br />substanca are presented, but the new wording will eore closeXy <br />adhere to the Intent of past Council code changes. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. Refer to Planning CosBalsslon <br />2. Aaend and refer to Planning Coaelssion <br />3.
