A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO <br />RONALD I OLSON <br />FOR HIS TWENTY-SIX YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE <br />RESOLUTION NO.7435 <br />WHEREAS, Ron Olson set the example for his fellow public servants with his <br />positive attitude, calm demeanor, and service focus since being appointed as a <br />Management Analyst/Accountant on October 27, 1997; and <br />WHEREAS, through hard work and technical competence, Ron quickly <br />progressed to positions of increasing responsibility first, by being promoted to Assistant <br />Finance Director in 1998 and culminating in his appointment as the Orono Finance <br />Director in 2006; <br />WHEREAS, Ron's financial acumen has been instrumental in the city's <br />establishment and maintenance of a AAA bond rating since 2005, one of relatively few <br />municipalities of Orono's size to do so, as well as receiving 100% clean annual audit <br />reports; and <br />WHEREAS, Ron led the establishment and then the modernization of the city's <br />information technology system, including the current network and communications <br />systems as well as implementing of numerous software program, resulting in improved <br />efficiencies and accuracy throughout the wide variety of city staff functions; and <br />WHEREAS, Ron created the city's human resource function and then spearheaded <br />the streamlining of the personnel system through the implementation of automated <br />benefits, onboarding, and payroll; and <br />WHEREAS, Ron Olson's 26 years of service have been characterized by <br />professionalism, expertise, and dedication to providing the highest quality service to the <br />city and its citizens; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orono City Council, staff <br />and residents wish to extend their utmost appreciation and gratitude to Ron Olson for his <br />service to the community as a Finance Director. <br />Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held this <br />11 cn day of December 2023. <br />Mayor Dennis Walsh, <br />
