Conclusion
BnUdinc • indoor Ic* fociUty will help ochieve s nuniber of goals for
the OroBO hockey Boosters as well as the larger Orono coromaoity.
• However, the tuning of this project has become critical. The problems of
available ice at increased costs to participants, reasonable hours, increased
travel time to other arenas where ice is rented, and the decreasing ability
of the Oiono Hockey Boosten to provide opportunities for both boys and
girls to participate are all of significant proportion.
• As important, the shortage of indoor ice for other members of the Orono
community will limit their opportunities as well.
Completion of an indoor ice arena can demonstrate Orono ’s ability to respond
to the needs of its residents and to provide for their continuing growth and
development.
In conclusion, this arena can exist in Orono if all parties recognize the need
for an indoor ice facility, act responsibly in working together toward a solu*
tion, and realize that our children and community will be the ultimate benefi
ciaries.
p—M' '
a-»''
4--i*.. 4»-.
