ITh: agreement was developed by the MCWD. The portion of the agreement of most <br />interest to Orono is Section 3.2 starting on page 7 - Local Responsibilities. The two major local <br />responsibilities are to prepare a local water management plan for the area of the Long Lake <br />subwatershed district, to be approved ty the MCWD; and to share the cost of operation and <br />maintenance of the project improvements. Orono ’s share under this proposed agreement would <br />be one-sixth of the total costs of operation and maintenance. <br />An additional issue to be addressed is the termination of the agreement. The agreement is <br />proposed to tenninate on December 31 of the year 2000. It is important to determine who <br />becomes responsible for the operation and maintenance of the project improvements upon <br />termination of the agreement. <br />The Council may want to discuss this agreement in a work session.
