The personal computer currently used by <br />the Assistant Finance Director is not capable of running current software packages and is too <br />old to be upgraded to run the software. The Senior Accounting Clerk currently does not have <br />a personal computer but only has a terminal to the LOGIS system. The new utility billing <br />system being developed by LOGIS will require a personal computer rather than a terminal. <br />Also, the personal computer will enable the Senior Accounting Clerk to run non-LOGIS software <br />such as; spreadsheet and data base programs. <br />With the purchase of both computers the fuiance staff will be able to reallocate responsibility <br />and perform all duties more efficiently. The Equipment Fund is designed for replacement <br />purchases of this sort and funds are currently available to cover the cost of this purchase. One <br />half of the cost of the computer for the Senior Accounting Clerk could be funded out of the <br />Sewer Operating Fund, since half of the duties of that position are related to the sewer fund. <br />The cost of the computers is $1,373 each (please see the attached memo from Chris Miller). <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to approve the purchase of two personal computers to replace the existing equipment in <br />the Finance Department at a cost of $2,746; the cost to be funded from the Equipment Outlay <br />Fund ($2,059) and the sewer fund ($687).
