vr'■ tSriiasr'SLSsis••tabli«h*d for tho purpoao* of monitoring, developing,and coordinating curriculum; ,ooa.- approved the Treasurer'e Report for April, 1994, <br />accepted the donation of $600.00 for the Orono Special <br />Needs Fund from the Christ Lutheran Church Women <br />organization in Maple Plain; <br />approved the bills as covered by vouchers 082497 through <br />082789 *directed administration to certify to the State <br />Demographer the following population estiMtes for Orono <br />ind^endent School District Mo. 278 which will serve m <br />the basis for the Community Education and Early Childho^ <br />Family Education Levy: District census is currently <br />estimated at 11,885 and 0 to 4 population is estimated at <br />970. <br />Dr Mich expressed congratulations to James Hummell who hasten <br />named a National Merit Finalist along with Neil Smaby and <br />that he was distributing a list of students who won awards at the <br />Orono School District Awards Night which was held on May <br />he was also distributing a list of eighteen middle school *t«den^ <br />who received Presidential Academic awards; <br />teaching a Peer Review course on June 28, 29 and 30 in <br />that he was distributing the 1994 yearbook to each Board member, <br />that he was distributing a list of the 1994 summer maintenance <br />projects that will take place during the coming summer; that <br />graduation will be held on Friday, June 10, and 9®""! <br />each Board member are available after the meeting <br />Recognition Breakfast will be held on Monday, June 13; that on June <br />29, there will be a reception honoring Dave McKown; that the annual <br />meeting will be held at 7:30 a.m. on July 1. <br />Dr. Mich stated that this is a <br />bittersweet, as this is Dave McKown's last meeting after <br />years on the Board of Education with eleven of those <br />chairman of the Board. He shared with the Board •jcerpts Jrom the <br />article he had written for the District Newsletter in which he <br />expressed appreciation to Mr. McKown for ■•••y <br />dedicated service and for the thousands of hours <br />behalf of the school community: <br />and residents. Dr. Mich stated that it has <br />privilege and pleasure to have served with Dave <br />worked with him these past eight y«*«« andDr. Mich's words and expressed appreciation for his ■•"torship and <br />fairness in all that he dealt with in his years on the Board. <br />UPON MOTION by Martha Van de Van, seconded by Pamela <br />Board of Education authorised administration to award the bid to <br />the lowest responsible bidder for the Orono Primary and Student <br />Center roofs. Motion carried.
