Mabusth discussed the suff report and reviewed the options <br />available to the Planning Cdmniissioo. Rowlette and Nolan sUted that they would like <br />to see addition il reduction of hardcover within the 0-75 setback area. Chair Schroeder <br />noted that there should not be any plastic located in this area and the second access <br />stain in the 0-75 and they were looking for additional hardcover reductions. George <br />Applebam staled he needed the second waUcwiqr to get his lawn nower to the different <br />laveb and also he has elderly patents who have ^fficulty with steps. Nolan stated that it <br />would still be possible to puU the lawn mower over grass, and Mr. Applebaum <br />concurred that would be passible. He discussed other areas of hardcover he was willing <br />to remove. The cost of maintainiag the boat house was discussed. Rowlette stated she <br />feh that the applicant should reduce the amount of hardcover and the amount of the <br />other variances, and she felt the request should be tabled. <br />Discussioo ensued regarding the amount of hardcover on the lot. Ntdan staled that he <br />felt this was a very intensely developed lot, aiNl he would like to see the amount of <br />hardcover reduced. Chair Schroeder noted this was a puMic hearing, but no one wished <br />to address the Commissioo. <br />Applebaum sUted that they were not doing any constnictioii in the Muff area and <br />Mabusth illustrated this area on the survey. She stated that the concerns were the visual <br />impact and potential for erosion atul the construction was within the required setback <br />area. Chair Schroeder commented that be felt the hardcover was the main issue and he <br />would like to see it reduced ugnificantly so that it was closer to the ordinaime <br />requirements. <br />Applebaum inquired if removal of the deck by the boat house would help and Nolan <br />ded affirmatively, and noted that would be moving in the right direction. <br />It was moved by Schroeder, seconded by Lindquist, to recommend approval of #1915 <br />Variances for George Applebaum at 4109 Highwood Road, with the provision that the <br />boat house deck be removed in addition to areas #11 and #12 and tte plastic <br />underlinen because the steep topography has created undue hardship for the applicant. <br />Ayes 5. nays 0.
