f»T.KA»Mlgg RATE The percentage of reported crimes solved is called the clearance rate. Police Departments "clear" a crime by solving who committed the crime. The clearance rate can be used as one measure of how effective a police department has been in solving the crimes that have been reported. The table below shows the learance rate percentages for the Cities of Orono, Spring Mound, wayzata and Long Lake as provided through crime statistics reports from the State Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Part 1 offenses are eight most serious crimes including criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft (felonies), motor vehicle theft, and arson. Part 2 offenses are all other less serious crimes. Some examples are misdemeanor assaults, forgeries, fraud, embezzlement, and buying, receiving and concealing stolen property.
