The company that performs this type of work has suggested the
following:
• Remove all material with lead in the paint except the interior and exterior walls.
Encapsulate the walls with an approved product.
• The removal of material would be the windows, wood trim, painted roof
overhang boards, rear door, wood panels, doors and windows in front entry and
covering the ceiling with plywood, and secure the building to weather.
The cost for the above is $12,847.00.
The cost to do all of the above and restore the building to its original condition with the same
style of woodwork, doors, roof, etc. is $45,200.00.
The above costs are very preliminary and we have not requested formal competitive bids which
will probably lower the costs somewhat. The above costs do not include plumbing, electricity,
etc.
The costs for demolition, removal and disposal of the building were estimated at $4,000.00 in
1992.
