DESCRIPTION ADDENDUM TO VARIANCE APPLICATION 1840 Fox Street John C. SkoglundREQUEST: Owner desiresexisting house, consisting of a reconstructed swimming pool <br />and new pool house. <br />House faces wester’/. South lot line is north line of Fox <br />Street, a public street. Access to house is not directly from <br />Fox Street, but is from private drive or roadway west of the <br />lot which rough’/ parallels the west line, and enters property <br />at northwest corner, circling northeast, east and south to <br />the circu,-term around lortheast of the house. Main portion <br />of private roud proceeds north to serve property owner to <br />north. It is a wide, asphalt drive. This private drive also <br />proceeds west from in front of house to the north and goes <br />west to Brown Road. East-west portion of private drive is <br />not paved. <br />Main portion of house if 60 feet from west lot line, and even <br />after new room addition on the south side will be about 120 <br />feet from north line of Fox Street on the south. <br />Open terrace and deck area now existing are approximately 30 <br />feet from west line and 95 feet from north line of Fox Street. <br />Proposed new pool and pool house are to be approximately 57 <br />feet from west line, and approximately 83 feet from north line <br />of Fox Street. <br />Therefore, the requested pool and pool house would be <br />i) approximately 3 feet nearer the west line than the <br />main house, but would still be substantially easterly <br />the most westerly edge of the existing terrace and <br />deck; and <br />li) approximately 37 feet nearer the north line of Fox <br />Street than the main house after the addition. <br />HARf SHIP; Access to house is from the west. House was <br />orTfinally designed with west line as the "front." Access <br />to the lot is from northwest of the house. Basic house and <br />terraced decks were all located with C’cy approval of alignment, <br />vCt backs, etc. in 1983. Pool is being reconstructed in <br />approximately the same location as originally approved by the <br />City. Pool house is the only new accessory building. It must <br />be located near the pool. Only other location ate west and <br />north of the pool. Both locations would cut off the view and <br />seriously mar the "front" of the home. Only possible location <br />is south east of the pool.
