Clifton French, Superintendent
Hennepin Park Reserve District
3800 County Road 24
Maple Plain, Minnesota 55359
..._._:.-,.
Re : Big Island Properties - Record Lots _& #64 ,
.
Dear Mr . French :
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with information
regarding the recent zoning changes on Big Island. Attached
is a complete copy of Ordinance No . 246 as adopted last December 20 ,
1982 .
The Park Reserve holdings including the Dr . Arthur Allen Wildlife
Refuge have been classified as a Day-Use Public Park which is
- listed as a permitted use in the RS Seasonal Recreational District.
This is consistent with the City ' s past policies and comprehensive
plans concerning Park Reserve involvement on Big Island.
This existing permitted use is listed in Section 34 . 362 , Subsection (c) .
You miht also be interested in two conditional use sections , 34 . 363 (c)
Private Day-Use Recreation Areas (like the Power Squadron property)
and 34 . 363 (d) Overnight Camps (like the Veterans ' Camp) .
The attached blue form (#1) identifies Park property by location and
PID. Please verify that this is correct. If it is correct, you
should consider having the appropriate person sign and return the two
attached greenforms (#3) which will then be forwarded to the County
Assessor . This will serve to combine your several tax parcels into
just two for simplification of tax and City records.
I apologize for the delay in getting this information out to you . I
believe that this new ordinance will go a long way toward protecting
' the Island and in promoting the Park Reserve ' s position , especially
if and when - the Veterans ' Camp use might cease .
Sincerely,
'-- , •
an P.
