Zoning File #17% <br />February 10, 1993 <br />P?ee 2 <br />Descriptioii of Request <br />A building permit was issued to the applicant on 11/30/92 to construct a second story <br />addition with decks to the existing residence. TTie former garage was taxen down and replaced <br />with a new garage with permanent masoiuy foundation allowing for a second story addition for <br />living quarters for applicant’s parents. The principal structure and garage/living quarters are <br />to be connected by a 5 ’xl5 ’ skyway. Review Exhibit E, F, J and L, note the second floor plan <br />approved with the building permit does not include a kitchen nor eating area. <br />Review Exhibit G, H and K, the principal access to the apartment is via an open tloor <br />area on the second floor leading eventually to skyway entrance. Revtiw Exhibit I, a secondary <br />access is via the main floor of garage. The new apartment will contam one bedroom. The total <br />area of the apartment unit is 8% s.f. Note the code does not limit the area of the apartment <br />unit. The principal struemre is approximately 3,300+ s.f. <br />Issues for Consideration <br />1. Does the access through primary structure meet the intent of the code? <br />Does the skyway access to the apartment present any unusual concern? <br />Options of Access <br />To approve as proposed or <br />as amended. <br />Note any condition of approval must be conditioned on apartment never being used for <br />rental purposes but must remain for the exclusive use of family members, guests or domestic <br />help. All other required standards set forth in Section 10.24, Subd. 3(a) will also be applicable.
