N Initial Operatio n Initial operations <vill be focused on the unique aspects of the Open Arms Child Care concept for children ages 2 1/2 through school age The existing building will be remodeled to allow 6 classes totaling 50 children enrolled in the Open Arms program. Normal business hours will be from 5 00 am to 5 00 pm. The building remodeling plan will meet all state regulations for child care centers Breakfast, lunch and a snack will be served from the facility Therefore child care regulations will require the facility to he licensed as a commercial kitchen In part, child care regulation 9503 0145 Subp 3 states Preparing, handling, and serving food and washing food, utensils and equipment must comply with the requirements for food and beverage establishments in parts 4525 2400 to 4525 50o0 ' This kitchen will also provide simple meals to parents and family on a pre-ordered basis which they can bring home This serv ice will allow families more lime together during precious evening hours present a more rounded .k comprehensive child care Service In checking with city regulations regarding sewage requirements for this kitchen operation, the present sewage system is adequate A blue print of these proposed upgrades accompanv this application and are attached A comprehensive child care program will include before after school program for scho'.'l age children School age children often have homework needs on a daily basis It is our goal to provide specialized programs to assist them with their homework We therefore request to be allowed to function as a private school in order to provide a well rounded school age program for these students still requiring child care before after school.
