As the wetland is not a DNR wetland, the jurisdiction for wetland <br />alterations is with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, the Local Government Unit <br />(LGU) for Orono at the State level. At the Federal level, the U.S. Army Corps of <br />Engineers (COE) also has jurisdiction for excavation within wetland areas. The LGU has <br />reviewed the proposal and requested additional information. To our knowledge, the COE <br />has not reviewed the proposal. Fhe proposed wildlife pond/wetland enhancement is <br />acceptable from an engineering standpoint and we would recommend approval contingent <br />on approval from both the LGU and the COE. However, we request the following <br />information be provided prior to construction: <br />-Engineered plans or details for the dike structure <br />-Specific upland areas proposed for the material disposal <br />-Erosion control methods proposed for disposal areas <br />We want to make sure that the disposal operations do not impact the drainage on the <br />property or adjacent wetland areas. <br />Please contact me at this office if you have any questions regarding this matter. <br />Yours very ’ truly, <br />BONESTROO, ROSENE.
