A wall must be: <br />i. Designed to correct an established erosion problem; and <br />ii. Suitable given the demonstrated need; and <br />iii. Designed by a registered engineer or landscape architect, <br />depending on project scope; and <br />iv. Designed to be the minimum size necessary to control the <br />erosion problem. <br />Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Review <br />The proposed amendment is within the Shoreland Overlay District and requires approval by the <br />DNR of any amendments. Staff worked with the City's designated DNR Area Hydrologist and has <br />received conditional approval on the draft language, Exhibit D. The DNR recommended additional <br />criteria that must be met in order to obtain a conditional use permit for new and replacement walls. <br />The DNR comments are reflected in the proposed language. Once the ordinance is formally <br />adopted by the City Council, the DNR will conduct a final review of the adopted ordinance. <br />Public Comments <br />To date, no public comments have been received. <br />Issues for Consideration <br />1.
