Letter to City of Orono Dated September 6, 2023 <br />CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS <br />Administrative <br />Firefighter Amanda Straka attends two duty crew shifts each week and assists with the following <br />administrative duties: <br /> <br /> Logging in payroll data, hours worked, duty crew staffing, and training <br /> Updating call information for the cities we serve <br /> Remaining current on logging of fire calls <br /> Coding invoices <br /> Acts as a point person for events happening in and around our communities <br /> Assists with weekly updates for LLFD membership <br /> Organizing gas and credit card receipts <br /> Responding to fire calls <br /> <br />Below is a list of work items currently in process or recently completed by firefighters during their duty <br />crew shifts: <br /> <br /> Cleaned and organized Training Room and apparatus bays <br /> Built shelving and cleaned the Training Room storage area <br /> Deep cleaning of Station 1 completed - Station 2 cleaning will follow <br /> Completed annual hose and ladder testing <br /> Pump training, drafting and relay pumping <br /> Prepared monthly and weekly station duties <br /> Checking Knox boxes for current keys <br /> Basic pre-plans for buildings <br /> Assisting the Orono School District with a CPR event <br /> Making regular checks on Boat-11 <br /> Checking vehicle fuel levels and tire air pressures <br /> Tracking data for end of year review of the duty crew program <br /> Running generators on engines <br /> Truck checks on all apparatus items <br /> Launch and operate B-12 <br /> Inventory on all medical bags <br /> Verification of all lot numbers for AED pads, also checking aspirin and Epi pens <br /> Check fluids on all trucks <br /> Clean fleet inside and out <br /> Small group medical training <br /> Basic truck operations <br /> <br />2024 Budget Considerations <br /> <br />Duty Crew <br />Staffing expenses (Monday through Saturday) would total $98,800 if all shifts were filled at the higher <br />$50/four-hour shift rate. The calculated assumption is that only 85% of the shifts may be filled, which <br />would amount to a duty crew staffing expense of $83,980. (This amount should also cover occasional <br />probationary firefighters’ $25 stipends for shadowing duty crews). <br /> <br /> <br />City of Orono <br />Work Session 11 Sept 2023
