In keeping w ith the spirit of cooperation between the City ot Orono and the DNR dating <br />back to 1991 when an access on Maxwell Bay was originally considered, DNR has subjected this <br />project to the City's commercial site plan review process. Pursuant to published notice and mailed <br />notice to property owners w ithin 350' of the site as well as to all property owners abutting Maxwell <br />Bay. the Planning Commission held a public information meeting for tlu purpose of endueting a <br />commercial site plan review and gaining public input, on November 20, 1995. <br />The Planning Commission reviewed the site plan in the context of the B-2 zoning in which the <br />property is located. Specific issues addressed during the review include minimization of hardcover, <br />lakeshore setback maximization, landscape plan, site access, sanitarv facilities, lighting, hours of <br />operation, trash and garbage contrM. and drainage. Please review the staff memo of November 17, <br />1995 which addresses a significant number of issues which have been discussed over the last four <br />sears. <br />Site Plan Review Suniman <br />Tlie site plan submitted by the DNR dated October 25. 1995 is designated as a "preliminary plan", <br />subject to Citv approval.
