There is currently one off-sale liquor <br />establishment in operation in Orono. This establishment is located in Navarre. <br />Although there is no off-sale liquor store in Orono in proximity to the proposed <br />store, tiiere is an off-sale liquor store located across Highway 12 in the city of <br />Long Lake in close proximity to the proposed location. The proximity' ot the <br />proposed off-sale liquor store to the Long Lake store may raise the same issues <br />that led to the current language in the liquor license ordinatKe that prohibits <br />Inrating an off-sale establishment within 1/2 mile ot the otf-sale liquor <br />establishment in Navarre. <br />Uncertainty regarding Highway 12 land use. The type of development to be <br />planned for the majority of the Highway 12 area in Orono is currently not <br />determined. A study of Highway 12 land use is currently under way. This smdy <br />may result in zoning changes that could affect regulations related to a variety of <br />land uses including off-sale liquor establishments. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to approve/deny the application for an off-sale liquor license at 2160 Wayzata Boulevard
