Box 66 Crystal Bay, 55323 Dear Planning CoBnission: My vife purchased the property located at 2775 Shadywood Road in the city of Orono on July 21, 1994. We have a re<^est for a building permit pending with Mr. Lyle Oman for an addition to the existing house. He told our builder that we would need council approval. The orior owners were granted a variance on Resolution of the City Council No. 2115 dated February 23, 1987. A copy is attached for your revie*./. This variance states in part, "an increase of hardcover will not be approved, and might be approved only with concurrent removals of existing hardcover resulting in no net increase in hardcover on the property." w N /X ro This building permit request will result in a net DECREASE^in hardcover on the property because we will remove the plastic under the flower beds in the front of the house prior to the start of construction. The hardcover results will be as follows: 0-75' setback zone- No change 75'-250' setback zone- Current coverage Net addition Ronove plastic Net coverage \ k, t S4J 1/1 P \ \ 6,177 sg* ft.(37.6^> + 200 sq. ft. - 758 ft. 5,619'^sq.^'ft. (34.2%) / Tnis request therefore results in a reduction of hardcover as to what currently exists as approved by the Council in 1987. A copy of the survey is also attached shcndng the proposed addition and the area where the hardcover will be removed from the rock beds. My wife and I hope this information, combined with the information that Mr. Onan has, will be sufficient to warrant approval by the Council for a change in the variance, if necessary, and for approval of the building px^rmit. incerely. ge E. ulson
