The applicant is seeking to construct a monument at <br />the subdivision entrance at Thoroughbred Lane and Willow and Old Crystal Bay Road and <br />Countryside Drive West 30* in diameter with 50 linear feet ot retaining wall at height of 3- <br />3-1/2* The monument would be of a horse drinking water from a fountain A setback <br />variance would be required because of the size ot the monument. <br />Peterson said there was an e.xisting oidinance in effect dealing with entrance monuments, <br />and it should not be changed The applicant, however, does have a right to come betore <br />the Commission for a variance. <br />A letter from Bruce Kokal asking for rejection ot the proposal was read into the minutes. <br />Mabusth asked that all members of the audience present in relation to this application sign <br />in on the attendance sheet for the record. There were 10 people present who were in <br />opposition to the application Mabusth said she would notify the applicant of their <br />displeasure with the proposal. <br />Anne Bowman. 10 So. Willow Drive, said she w as not notified of the application. <br />George Stickney said he lives at the end of the development. It was his opinion that the <br />monumemt would create a huge maintenance and vandalism problem Stickney said the <br />monument would be an issue tor the homeowners association. Sticknev’ said he was on <br />the architectural review commission for the homes being built in the subdivision. <br />Mayor Callahan was asked if it was required to table the application without the presence <br />of the applicant. Callahan said there was no requirement to do so, but it w as what was <br />cenerallv done. <br />Schroeder moved. Smith seconded, to table Application #2055 Callahan asked Staff to <br />convey to the applicant the feeling of the audience and the Planning Commission.
