%y <br />{- <br />March 21,1995 <br />Subject: Orono City Variance <br />RE; 1995 & Future Sailors World Boat Club <br />Attention Planning Commission: <br />Page 1 <br />j ^1 ^ <br />fr /.i <br />•\ <br />-4 <br />Please review the foUowing information pertinent to the requirement you have imposed making it <br />necessary for a conditional use permit for a Boat Lease or Rental Club. <br />I appreciate your willingness to \vork with the local Marinas and I will be working at continuing <br />to offer the finest all new Marina in all of Orono. <br />After meeting with iVUke Gaffron Febniary 27, 1995 he suggested I describe to you our Boat <br />Club parking needs and general Boat Club use. <br />Before I begin I want to e.xpress my disappointment in the Cities revision to make Boat Clubs a <br />conditional use as this goes against the logic of over 40 years of Boat Rentals at this business site <br />This should be an allowable use based on presenting adequate parking and 1 teel very <br />uncomfortable putting the future of my business & family in the the hands of City Governments <br />Conditional Use !! <br />I believe most of the problem is you don't fully understand the Boat Club concept and when 1 <br />provide now written and later oral explanation you will better understand why my above <br />comments are justified. <br />However, I respect Michael Gaffrons opinion that when 1 demonstrate to the City Planners the <br />facts about the Boat Club that I will not have to be womed that every year my business could be <br />subject to extinction !! <br />1 look forward to working with you and don’t want to give you the impression that 1 will be <br />unreasonable or don’t want to cooperate with the City and its residents On the contrary 1 live m <br />Orono, employ some of its children and love the community & people and w ill do everything I <br />can to continue to improve my business to meet the standards that make it an asset to the <br />community. <br />With all the new improvements on this site to make it affordable for me and my family my future <br />income sources rely heavily on the Boat Club Lease or Rental concept.
