Request for CouncO Action continued <br />page 2 of 2 <br />June 9, 1995 <br />Request for Off-Sale Liquor License <br />As ihe licensing process outlined above indicates, the license review process includes a <br />background investigation by the Police Department, then a public hearing held \^ithin 30 days <br />of the police report. Because the Council has not had to consider issues related to off-sale liquor <br />licensing in recent years, the Council may wish to discuss these at a work session or at a <br />Council meeting prior to moving ahead with the Orono Shopping Center application. The <br />Council could plan to do this during the time the Police Department is completing its background <br />investigation, unless the Council has concerns regarding the application that are significant <br />enough that they should be addressed prior to the initiation of the background investigation. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to direct staff to proceed with the background investigation and to bring the results of <br />the investigation back to the Council for the scheduling of a public hearing. <br />1
