6. <br />2. ) The assessment process requires time, effort and costs related to the <br />formal requirements of the assessment process. <br />3. ) Potential for assessment appeals. <br />Assessment amounts <br />Based on the estunated $100,000 cost of the project, the fact that there are 2 benefittin^ <br />properties, and the recommendation that 25% of the project costs be assessed to the <br />benefitting owners, the amount to be assessed to each property owner would be $12,500. <br />This translates to approximately $30.00 per linear foot of frontage along Willow Drive. <br />The City Engineer has indicated the $30.00 per linear foot assessment amount compares <br />favorably to amounts generally assessed for street reconstruction projects. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />It is staffs recommendation that the Council consider assessmg 25% of the costs of the Willow <br />Drive improvement project to the adjacent benefitting properties, and that an assessment hearing <br />be scheduled for the June 26 Council meeting. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve/disapprove the scheduling of an assessment hearing to be held at the June 26 <br />regular Council meeting for the purpose of considering assessing a portion of the Willow Drive <br />project to the benefitting property owners.
