About the Community Center Survey <br />Decision Resources, Inc. is a professional polling firm in the twin cities led by Mr. Bill Morns. A <br />primary focus for their work is the public sector, including a large number of municipalities and <br />public school districts. The organization is highly respected due largely in part to the accuracy of <br />their sun/eys combined with the professional manner in which the surveys are conducted and <br />results reported. <br />In a recent preliminary planning meeting with Mr. Morris and the Community Center Task Force, <br />the following information was discussed; <br />• The survey needs to be a cooperative effort, jointly sponsored by municipalities, <br />community organizations, and the school district. <br />• About 400 randomly selected residents will be surveyed. <br />• Decision Resources brings no preconceptions to the survey. <br />• Accuracy is 95%+/-5%. i , <br />• If opposition exceeds 35%, the project would probably not be successful. <br />The survey will: ..... .• videntify response by municipality (with cross tabulation to questions) <br />identify household composition (e.g. seniors, families with young children, etc.) <br />include project financing information <br />identify the amount of acceptable levels of property tax increase <br />(No referendum is necessary with lease/purchase levy project financing) <br />• identify how far people would be willing to travel to use the community center <br />identify acceptable membership fees <br />identify how residents use the existing community center <br />identify the types of facilities that should go into a community center <br />address the second hockey ice sheet to assess support, with the understanding <br />that the Hockey Association will cover its cost <br />Status Report of “Partners" in thft Community Center Survey <br />• District 277 <br />• Mound Hockey Associaticn <br />• Orono Hockey Association <br />• City of Mound <br />City of Minnetrista <br />City of Spring Park <br />City of Independence <br />City of Orono <br />yes, with committed partners <br />yes, not to exceed $1,200 <br />yes, not to exceed $1,200 <br />yes, not to exceed $1,500 with conditions <br />• Minnetrista must participate <br />• Spring Park must participate <br />• council member to be involved In survey development <br />yes, not to exceed $1,000 <br />yes, not to exceed $500 <br />yes, will write a letter of support for survey <br />to be decided April 24,1995 <br />Request of the City of Oron o <br />• Agree to be a partner with those listed above, in the community center survey <br />• V^te a letter of support, to include residents Orono which are also residents of <br />Independent School District 277, to be included in the random ^mple community survey <br />• Designate an individual to be involved in survey development (if interested)
