February 8, 1995 <br />: V • <br />FEB 13 1995 <br />c..Sgoiirn <br />adult day program <br />City of Orono <br />Post Office Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />Attn: John Gerhardson <br />Dear Mr. Gerhardson & City Council Members, <br />Sojourn is a community based adult day program, an alternative to <br />nursing home placement, in it^s tenth year of serving the frail and <br />elderly and their families in West suburban Hennepin County. Our <br />continued growth indicates the increasing need for this service <br />which allows the elderly to remain living independently in their <br />familiar community. <br />Sojourn has been awarded a 25 passenger Wheel Chair equipped <br />vehicle from the Minnesota Department of Transportation to be <br />delivered by the fall of 1995. <br />The Minnesota Department of Transportation grant for this vehicle <br />covers 80% of it's cost of $38,000, with a 20% match of local <br />funds. Sojourn respectfully requests that the city of Orono make <br />a generous contribution toward the $8,000 local portion due for <br />this vehicle. <br />The residents of the City of Orono would be able to offer the <br />vehicle to both the public and private groups of its citizens for <br />group use. <br />We sincerely hope that the city of Orono will strongly consider our <br />proposal and continue to support Sojourn's efforts to serve the <br />older residents of the community. <br />Sincerely, <br />Sally Grathwol Hebson <br />Executive Director <br />C O Hol\’ Cross Lutheran Church <br />41^1 Highway' <br />Excelsior. .MN 55331
