ORONO PARK COMMISSION MEETING MLNUTES FOR JANUARY 3,1995 DRAFT ATTE^^DANCE The Park Commisaon met on the above date with the following members present: Susan WUson, LUi McMillan, Sherokec Dse, and James \Miite, who arrived at 7:35 p m. Richard Flint and Robert Howells were absent. Public Works Director, John Gerhardson, and Recorder, Sherry Frost, represented Staff. Acting Chair Susan Wilson called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m. (#1) APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF DECEMBER 5, 1994 The follo>ving cotiections were made lo the December 5. 1994 minutes: Wilson sdd to make sure that the 'Open Space Inventory” memo be attached to the runutes^ McMillan asked that it be noted that a copy be sent to the Park Commissioners m regard to the recruitment letter being drafted by Gerhardson under item K. Wdson a^ed for clarification of the reference Flint made of the public-minded citizens tn Orono under item #4 on pg 3 of the draft. This was in response to a news article of a large publtc donauon made for a park in Wayzata McMillan made the cotreaion of the grant referred to on pg 8 of the draft as the ISTEA gram. The open times were corrected under Item #6, under the Wimer Recreation Program at Orono GolfCourse, as being fi’om 12-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Gerhardson remarked that the Orono park volunteers in 1994 have agreed to continue to assist in 1995. Letters will now be sent to organizations for additional volumeers for this coming year. It was suggested that the parks be listed along with the names of the volunteers who have adopted each park. Wilson suggerted that calls be made to people the commissioners feel would be interested in assisting in this area. Use asked that t e letter define the commitment made by the volunteers as being for one year or one season and list what parks need adopting. Gerhardson will bring the letter to the meeting in Fd>ruary. Dse and McMillan will advertise the winter recreation program available at the golf course in the Pioneer newspaper after reviewal with Gerhardson. McMillan made note of the need to establish a firad for park solicitations fi^om the citizens. Concern was made over the future loss of park fee funding. White moved.
