TO:
FROM:
Ron Moorse, City Administrator
John R. Gerhardson, Public Works Director
DATE:February 10, 1995
SUBJECT: Highway 12 Improvement Project - Signal Agreement
As pan of the Highway 12 improvement project scheduled for construction in 1995, a semaphore
will be constructed at the intersection ot Highway 12 and Willow Drive. Because the semaphore
will be at an intersection of a City street, the cities are involved in a cost sharing of the
construction as well as ongoing maintenance of pans of the semaphore.
Attached for review only at this time is a standard agreement between the Minnesota Department
of Transportation (Mn/DOT) and the Cities of Orono and Long Lake.
The City of Long Lake is involved because the south side of the intersection is in Long Lake
and the north side is in Orono.
The control panel for the signal will be in Orono; therefore Orono will bill Long Lake for one-
half of the electric costs, bulb replacement, painting of the signal, cabinet and luminary mast
arm extension.
This agreement is similar to the agreement we have with Mn/DOT for the signals at Old Crystal
Bay Road and at County Road 6.
This agreement is presented for review only at this time.
